3 Tips To Help You Better Organize Your Storage Shed

Posted on

The more organized your storage shed is, the more you will be able to fit while still being able to easily access your stored items. Unfortunately, many people struggle with the task of organizing these storage spaces. Thankfully, the three tips below can help you easily get your shed organized so that you can begin enjoying all of the benefits that organization has to offer.

Tip #1: Consider Adding A Loft To Your Storage Shed

If your shed did not come with a loft built in, you may want to consider adding one. This will allow you to take advantage of the vertical space your storage shed has to offer and will instantly increase the overall amount of storage space you have. The loft area in your shed will be a bit harder to access so this area is ideal for storing items that are not used on a regular basis. For instance, storing extra construction materials and seasonal items is ideal for storing in this space.

Tip #2: Use An Old Wood Pallet To Keep Yard Tools Tidy

If you are like many people, you probably have a pile of shovels, rakes, and other yard tools piled up in one of the corners of your shed. These tools can be especially difficult to store since they are large but cannot be stacked or neatly put into a bin. Thankfully, there is an easy storage solution that will allow you to tidy up your shed and make your yard tools easier to access. This solution is to screw a wooden pallet to your shed wall. This pallet will act as a corral of sorts for all of your yard tools and other similar items. Choosing to store your yard tools in this way will also make it easier to access the items you need without the need to first move any other tools that may have been stored in a pile along with them.

Tip #3: Install As Much Shelving As Possible

Perhaps the easiest and most effective way to organize your storage shed is to make use of shelving. Whether you choose to build wall shelves or prefer using standalone shelving units, the fact is that shelving makes it much easier to separate and organize all of the items in your shed. While larger items can be placed directly on the shelf, smaller items can be placed into plastic storage bins that are then stored on the shelf. To make things even easier, you may want to consider using color-coded storage bins to make identifying the contents of each bin quick and easy even from a distance.
